Update, February 23, 2021 8:31 PM CT
We are pleased to report that effective immediately Canyon Lakes Water Service Company is able to lift the Do Not Drink order that was in effect for the 570 customers in Cypress Springs on the Guadalupe, Lantana Ridge, Woods of Spring Branch and Riverwood Estates Subdivisions.
A Boil Water Notice is in effect until further notice for your system and you are now able to consume your tap water after boiling.
As you recall, a Do No Drink Notice was issued for your neighborhood out of an abundance of caution following the unauthorized activation of a well where arsenic had been found back in 2018 at levels which approached the maximum drinking water standard set by the EPA. The well in your neighborhood remains off-line and your water is being supplied by the Canyon Lake Shores public water system.
Test results received today show arsenic levels are less than 1 part per billion (ppb), far below the EPA standard of 10 ppb. This confirms that any water which may have entered your system for the limited time that the well was in operation did not exceed EPA standards. We will continue to supply the neighborhood with water from the Canyon Lake Shores system and are awaiting further test results for that supply before lifting the Boil Water Notice.
Information for a Boil Water Notice:
To ensure destruction of any harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, we will notify customers directly that the water has been tested and is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
