Water Source
Your water source is a combination of surface water from the Canyon Lake Reservoir and groundwater from the Trinity Aquifer. These sources are often blended together in the distribution system. You may receive different amounts of water from these sources day-to-day as customer usage changes.
Surface Water - Canyon Lake Reservoir
Canyon Lake Reservoir is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In addition to providing drinking water, it mitigates against flood damage to the Guadalupe River Basin and offers recreation opportunities in Texas.

Groundwater – Trinity Aquifer
SJWTX utilizes almost 40 active wells to supply groundwater to customers. Groundwater does not require significant filtration because it does not contain the amount of organic material and some contaminants seen in the surface water. Some of our wells fall in the jurisdiction of the following Groundwater Conservation Districts (GCDs).
Comal Trinity Groundwater Conservation District
Blanco-Pedernales Groundwater Conservation District
We work with the GCD's to ensure that use is being monitored and groundwater is used efficiently.

Consumer Confidence Report
The Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) is a document that provides customers with information about water quality sampling results. Sampling schedules are done in compliance with requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, as well as some additional sampling SJWTX performs for a higher standard of monitoring. The CCR is backward-looking; it presents a summary of information and data SJWTX collected in the previous calendar year.
